Boston Philharmonic Club is established.

[1843] Founded by German-American conductor Bernhard Listemann, it is later called the Boston Philharmonic Society. It forms an orchestra and in 1881 begins to offers a series of publicly-subscribed concerts, but is discontinued two years later.
